DIY iPod to factory radio.

On a recent road-trip with LastDojo I noticed he had wired his iPod to his car stereo. Because I’m always fascinated with contraptions and doohickeys, I immediately asked how he had managed to accomplish this innovative endeavor.
He explained that since his factory CD player was a separate unit below the radio, he could fool the head unit (with some simple wire-work) into thinking the signal comes from the CD, when it really comes from an external device. After setting everything up, all he does is put a CD in the player, turn the external switch he installed, and the radio will receive the signal from the iPod, instead of the CD.
I celebrated his moxie by telling him that I’ll post his one-of-a-kind idea in this blog. “We’ll change the world”, I told him. “We’ll become forever”.
Then everything went to shit.
You see, some guy named Matt Gilbert did the same thing, put it up on his site yesterday, and it was linked on hack-a-day this morning. But at least LastDojo used a better external switch, and his instructions are a bit more graphical.
When he uploads his how-to somewhere, I’ll update this post… I fucking hate him.

Gil Grissom: Freud said that the only unusual sexual behavior was not to have any at all. After that, it was only a matter of opportunity and preference. Some people obviously prefer the feel of fur to the texture of human skin.
