How to recover your TextAmerica pics

TextAmerica is an online photo album and moblog site that allows you to take pictures from your digital camera or camera phone and post them online. If I’m not mistaken, it introduced email uploads. That is, you could send photos from anywhere with your cameraphone to a special email address that would post them directly to your TextAmerica site.

On June of 2006, TextAmerica announced it would go fee-only the following year, and would delete all free accounts. Some users didn’t think the $99 was worth it. Among those, some forgot to backup their photos.

Yeah, I’m in that group.

Today I found that the last 30 uploads can still be recovered. You see, the home pages for the free accounts are down, but not the RSS feeds. If you open your RSS feed with Firefox 2 or Internet Explorer 7, you’ll be able to see the last 30 images and easily save them. Your RSS is the following:

http://XXXX.textamerica.com/rss.aspx

Just replace XXXX with your TextAmerica username and enter it to your browser or RSS reader.

Now if anyone can find a way to access the rest of the images just leave a comment bellow.
